The latest news and observations
from Kent and Bev at Sitka's Secrets
|
June 2007
The weather is as unpredictable as last summer. It was so chilly one day, I checked the calendar to make sure it was June. The next day, the temperature was in the 70s!
Our wildlife charters are on task, with usual sightings of humpback whales, sea otters, tufted puffins and bald eagles. Our king salmon fishing has been good, except when a pod of orcas is sighted.
As beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, so goes our charters. Clients on our wildlife charters are thrilled seeing orcas. Clients on our fishing charters, cringe at the same sighting, as tables turn, for the predatory king salmon is now an orca’s prey.
If you are interested in fishing, check back next month, and I hope to have a link up especially for you. Halibut fishing has been slow and disappointing.
