Pssst…birders, whale watchers, and wildlife seekers! We can customize a charter to your liking, but we usually run 2 hour and 3 hour charters. Our 2 hour charter is designed for individuals primarily interested in viewing whales, sea otters, sea lions, and bald eagles. The cost is $110 per person, or $250 for a charter with one or two passengers onboard.
Our 3 hour charter is designed for individuals who wish to travel farther to circumnavigate St Lazaria Island, where puffins and murres nest. We will also be looking for whales, sea otters, sea lions and bald eagles. The cost for this charter is $125 per person, or $300 for the charter with one or two passengers onboard.
St. Lazaria Island is part of the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge, encompasses 65 acres and is about 15 miles west of town. It is called home by thousands of nesting marine birds, including puffins, murres, cormorants, storm-petrels, gulls, oystercatchers, guillemots, murrelets and auklets.
We run charters all day long. Our final departure time is 5pm, as there is still ample daylight for viewing and the ocean may be calmer in the evenings. We also understand if some people would like the boat to themselves. In that case, we charge the minimum equivalent of having four people aboard and close the boat to other passengers.
